Singly birds observed in Bala-Baldabrek canyon (joint of Ugamskiy ridge and Talasskiy Alatau) at 4 August 1933 and 27 June 1963.

Description


Male and female of Rufous-tailed Flycatcher are undistinguished by color; back is brownish-grey, flight feathers are brownish, secondaries and greater wing coverts have pale edges, underparts are pale grayish-brownish with whitish middle-belly and undertail. Lores and eye-spot are white, tail and uppertail are rusty. Eyes are dark-brown, legs and upper mandible brownish, base of lower mandible is grayish-meat-color. Juveniles are dark-brownish above, with buffy streaks and blackish edges of feathers, underparts are pale-buff dark-brownish spotted. Greater wing coverts are with brown-yellow tips but flight feathers are with narrow edges of same color. Sizes: wing 71-84, tail 55-64, tarsus 15-16, bill 11-12 mm.

Biology


No specimen collected. The status of Rufous-tailed Flycatcher in Kazakhstan is unknown.
