Parus palustris Linnaeus, 1758 Marsh Tit
Подвид:
Pentestes palustris L.
Head and throat of Marsh Tit are black with bluish metallic gloss (in fresh plumage throat is with pale edges of feathers); other upperparts are pale-grey brownish tinged. Flight feathers are dark-brownish with washed pale edges, tail feathers are dark-brownish. Cheeks and underparts are off-white with brownish tone on flanks and rear-belly. Bill is black, eyes are brownish, legs are grayish. Juveniles in first plumage have not black but dark-brownish head and throat. Marsh Tit is very similar on Willow Tit but slightly larger; all year (excepting autumn) it well distinguished by lack of pale patch on furled wing; by habitus it looks like Great Tit - tail is longer, head is less than in Willow Tit, head is without “long” nape, black crown not passes to mantle, throat-patch is small and not passes to breast. Males and females are similar. Sizes: wing 60-69, tail 54-69, tarsus 15-17, bill 6.9-9.0 mm. Weight 10-12.5 gr.
Marsh Tit is rare resident. Inhabits deciduous groves, poplar-birch or poplar-willow forests with bush thickets near water streams, edges of taiga forest. Breeding in separate pairs. Nest is built in tree hole, not height from ground. No specific data on biology in Kazakhstan.
