Welcome to the site «Bird of Kazakhstan». There are a lot of sites about birds on the Internet. There are sites about any groups of birds, for example such as Birds of Prey, Owls or Finches. There are sites about birds of any territory (such as country or region). There are forums which there is a communion of birdwatchers. There are encyclopedia sites about birds. Also there is a few of Internet pages of common birdwatchers. The information about birds of Kazakhstan is on the Internet also. Some of these sites belong to firms making birding tours to Kazakhstan. Other ones are the pages of foreign birdwatchers with photos of birds from Kazakhstan. In Kazakhstan it is possible to watch about 500 species of the birds, furthermore the birds of the different habitats. Kazakhstan is the ninth by area country in the world and is located in the centre of Eurasia. There are different geographical zones on the territory of Kazakhstan. Deserts, steppes and forest-steppes, taiga, mountains, a lot of large and small lakes. In various geographical zones there are also different birds. Besides the large difference between summer and winter temperature in the same regions allows to observe absolutely different birds in one place at various year times. Every year more and more foreign birdwatchers come to Kazakhstan to have an eyes to birds. The number of Kazakhstan birdwatcher increases also. The birdwatching is very interesting hobby. It does not demand special skills and condition, it is possible to watch the birds not only leaving somewhere on fields but also going on work or looking on a feeding trough the window of the house. The part of materials of our site includes the photos sent us by the visitors of the site. We observe the birds in Kazakhstan since 2003. During this time we have visited almost all regions of the Kazakhstan. The news we have seen and have photographed we have published on the site. Also finding something new to ourselves from the literature we publish this information to the visitors of the site (some of the literature we used is available in the bookstore). For each species (and subspecies) of the birds there is a separate page with detailed information, such as the description of a bird, its distribution in Kazakhstan and briefly biology. The photos are the illustrations to this information. The information collected thus helps many visitors of the site to define birds all alone and to read about them something new. Certainly foreign birdwatchers mainly use the helpful information on where and when they can see birds. We hope that the information of our site also is useful to the various organizations and also to teachers and students. Good luck in birdwatching.

Bird watching diary. Since 2003 I watch the birds. As a matter of fact in the beginning I only photographed birds, then I began to notice the birds I saw, and further I began to do records which I tried more or less in detail to write what and where I saw. Certainly, first of all I tried to photograph a bird, not always it was possible but at once I tried to fix in the diary all birds I have seen. Sometimes I saw unusual or just interesting behavior of birds, I also tried to record it in a diary. Since 2005 I began to publish these diaries on the site. In these diaries you can read about birds from almost all regions of Kazakhstan.
Over 500 species of the birds were observed in the Kazakhstan. All species of the birds are divided into ten pages which it is possible to get by the top menu from other pages of the site. The full list of all birds which ever were recorded in Kazakhstan is presented on "taxonomy" page. From the “taxonomy” page it is possible to enter to the list of the species spelling the family you interested. Lists of the species on the “Families” pages differ from the full list on “taxonomy” page. I excluded some vagrant species recorded more than 80-100 years ago. Taxonomy of the orders, families and species is taken by the book of Professor E.I.Gavrilov "Fauna and Distribution of the Birds of Kazakhstan", Almaty, 1999.
Unfortunatelly it is impossible to photograph all species of birds. This page helps you to see photographed species only. Each species shows by icon and name on English. Click image to see the page of selected bird.
